Designing a Freight Elevator

by Zachary Ghalayini

Submitted : Spring 2012

In this project I studied the movement of a particular model of a durable freight elevator used to raise and lower equipment and minerals in a mineshaft, through constructing its displacement, velocity, and acceleration graphs. I started with the vertical line simulation in order to envisage the shift of the elevator in the mineshaft. After that I derived the equation twice, to display the functions of velocity and acceleration, and graphed each function of x. I subsequently concluded my investigation with some personal critiques of the formula. I believe the formula could have been improved a little with the conclusions that I came across.
