Hydrostatic Forces on a Dam

by Kyle Blaha

Submitted : Fall 2011

This project considers the problems presented when constructing a dam with given parameters. It takes into account the size, shape, and depth of the dam, along with giving an in depth process on how to find these in particular forces. Solutions are given based on the type of shapes the dam in constructed in and are compared.  Suggestions are also given based on whether or not the dam could withstand the hydrostatic forces applied by the water to the material. Multiple engineering fields are required to completely solve all problems presented.
