Modeling of Peritoneal Dialysis

Submitted : Spring 2011

A) Using equation (1) determine the value for KR that would be needed to keep CB constant at 0.8 mg/mL.

B) If the KR value in a person is 2/3 the value found in (A), devise a dialysis treatment schedule spanning over a 24 hour day with the goal of having CB at the end of the 24 period be the same as the starting value of 0.8 mg/mL, and state the amount of dialysate volume that would be required.

C) Given that any dialysate volume over 2000 mL would not be practical, how many treatments per day might you recommend?

D) Chaining treatments one after another is not the only way to go. Can you develop a schedule that might be more desirable for the patient?
