Unemployment Rate's Effect on Average Premium

by Brad Crowson

Submitted : Spring 2010

National Benefits Group of America's data on their 'Average Premium per Employee' for 2009 showed that it has been decreasing just about every month. The cause of this is directly related to the rising unemployment rate. A scatter plot revealed a decreasing function. Using linear and exponential regression, the best fit function can be found and can be used to make predictions in the future according to changes in the Unemployment Rate.
