Empying of a Tank using Torricelli Equation

by David Carson

Submitted : Spring 2009

In engineering the Torricelli equation is used to find the velocity of an object without a given time frame. The project uses this equation coupled with fluid mechanics to find the velocity of water exiting a tank valve. The given tank size and a 200 watt pump, the tank overflowed within 8.54 hours. The water level in the tank needs to be kept at a level that corresponds with the valve radius. This correspondence leaves an open answer of an infinite number of combinations.
