Using Calculus to Model a Population Growth

by Lukas Coelho

Submitted : Fall 2018

Experimental data for the growth models of the yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), with birth and death rates, use differential equations to predict when the population is growing and at/close to the carrying capacity. The project was done in order to understand and interpret the models to predict the value of increasing and decreasing of the cells. Then the results were all accurate to affirm that this method can be used to help the study of the biodiversity and also the economic importance of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
