Predator-Prey Dynamics

The predator-prey dynamics were measured out over four different scenarios of rabbits and wolves, each with different starting conditions, to see if after time there would end up being stability within the population. The equations used were derived from the Lotka-Volterra (predator-prey) equations, requiring certain field constants, and population’s starting numbers. Using a computer system provided by Nova modeler, four graphs were produced showing populations for the rabbits and wolves over a time of one hundred years. After reviewing the results, it was concluded that no stability was ever achieved with the various scenarios and that the Lotka-Volterra model is simplified and not a realistic tool to predict species growth and loss.
