Transporting Patients Efficiently

by Grant Vestal

Submitted : Spring 2009

As the economy continues to fluctuate and budgets are watched more closely, the efficient staffing needs are of extreme importance. At the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Patient Transportation Services is responsible for transporting patients in a timely, safe manner. With a staff of about 35 individuals, an efficient schedule is needed in order to meet the demands of the center. In April 2009, the patient transportation data (the total time of transportation and the quantity of patients transported) was analyzed. From this data a functional description and its critical points were determined.
