Optimization of Volume

by Cody Rubel

Submitted : Spring 2017

This project applies differential calculus to solve a given problem related to mathematics and engineering. The problem is asking for the minimal cost required to build an aircraft hangar with given constraints for the volume and the length versus the width. The costs for the different sides, top, and bottom are also given. The purpose of solving this problem is to save the most amount of money in building an aircraft hangar that has a required volume. Applying calculus to a problem like this is the best way to get the most accurate results. Calculus can be used to optimize numerous different variables which has many different applications in the real world.
