Calculation of Center of Gravity

by Jason Sikorski

Submitted : Fall 2008

The objective of this project was simply to find the centroid or the center of gravity of a two dimensional object. This was done by using the integral of a simple equation. The integral was found using the integration by parts method. After the integral was solved it was put into a spreadsheet to try and solve for the centroid of any shape. It would only work for one shape because not every shape uses the same method to find its centroid. Another problem with the spreadsheet solver was that it did not understand what quadrant to calculate from. In all a more complex program was needed.
