Work Done with Increasing Coefficient of Friction

by Natalie Waller

Submitted : Fall 2014

This project demonstrates the amount of work done with a coefficient of friction that varies with distance by a motor pulling a truck out of mud over a distance of three meters. We assume the truck is traveling on a linear surface through the mud. The coefficient of friction is increasing as the distance increases. The total work was found by determining a formula for work using free body analysis and integrating over distance traveled.
