Minimizing Reservoir Costs

by Daniel Gibney

Submitted : Spring 2014

This project is designed to discover the minimum cost of a roofless reservoir that can supply the needs of all Tampa Bay citizens for a day. In order to do this we need to optimize the dimensions of the reservoir then calculate price. I found the dimensions to be as follows:

Length = 58.2255

Width = 166.451

Height = 19.4088

Through research I was able to uncover that the price of concrete is $26.90 per square meter. Thus the total cost of building this reservoir is $364,791.05
