Area of Concrete Needed for the Sides of an Exit Ramp

by Frederick Schekorra

Submitted : Spring 2014

Using the provided exit ramp located on Interstate 4 (EXIT 28), we can estimate the approximate area of concrete needed for each side of the ramp. This project includes not only finding the area of the exit ramp sides, but also the length of the ramp. In order to find the length of the ramp, we first need the find each of the unknown variables within the cubic polynomial equation formula. Solving for each of the variables first requires formulating four different equations, than solving for each unknown. After all of the variables are found the area of concrete needed can be correctly calculated through the area integral equation.
