Radar (Speed) Gun Physics

Submitted : Fall 2013

In this particular project I analyzed the radar gun and it’s mechanics to see how the device works. I researched the radar (speed) gun and its anatomy and found out the functions of the device. After finding the formula that takes place in the speed gun, I was able to manipulate some variables, or move variables to one side and solve for them. By doing this I derived a formula for velocity. Finally I applied what I know from standard Calculus to find the change in position of a moving vehicle from 3:00pm to 3:45pm. Using the same calculus concept I figured out that it would indeed be possible to find the acceleration of a vehicle.
