Path of a Thrown Grenade in a Video Game

by Shakara McCord

Submitted : Fall 2009

The purpose of this project is to calculate the trajectory of a grenade and find the place it lands in a computer game given the angle thrown and initial velocity. Also, figure if the grenade will pass through a window at a given height while on the path. I answered the questions based on general motion equations using the given values and solving for the unknowns. Most of the calculations used are based on 2-D motion but 3-D measurements are needed to find out if the grenade will pass through the window or not. From my results I was able to find the solution and conclude that the grenade will make it through the opening of the window.
