Weight and Surface Area of a Prosthetic Limb

by Jonathan Jones

Submitted : Spring 2013

The primary objective of this project is to determine whether the proposed design for a prosthetic forearm is suitable, or if it would be unusable due to being too heavy for a person to lift. This is established by calculating the mass of the proposed design, and comparing it the average mass of a real arm. A secondary objective to this project is to determine how much of a plastic covering is needed to protect the arm, which is found by determining the surface area of the arm.
