A Cheetah Dilemma

by Christopher Noyce

Submitted : Fall 2012

This project was created in order to help the zoo team better understand the variety of options they have in placing the cheetahs on exhibit. Out of the fifteen cheetahs available to be placed on the exhibit, two of the cheetahs are known to be aggressive toward each other, and must not be placed together. Using counting and combination methods, the total number of ways the cheetahs could be placed on exhibit was calculated. It is good for the animals to constantly interact with others while on exhibit in order to better develop social relationships among one another. This data is important to the zoo team to ensure they have a variety of choices in placing the cheetahs on exhibit.
