Optimization of a Curing Process

by Alexa Cabrera

Submitted : Fall 2012

The purpose of this project is to optimize a curing process by minimizing the total annual cost. To minimize the cost the derivative of the total annual cost must be taken, which includes the annual cost per furnace and the set up cost. Since the cost depends on the number of units the company produces and on the optimum availability of proper equipment, several factors must be taken into account. As the number of furnaces for the curing process; therefore, the number of pieces per batch in each furnace, the number of batches and the time length it takes to cure one batch; which are all unknown variables. In order to solve this use constrains.
