US Oil Reserves and Peak Oil

by Trang Luong

Submitted : Spring 2012

By using calculus technique, we are attempting to estimate the US oil reserves. This project created from an initial mathematical model with four unknown constants. By fitting the real data to determine these constants, we formed our new formula in order to find the year at which the U.S. production reached its peak, and calculate the estimated total US petroleum at once available, the total US petroleum’s production up to the end of 2006, and the undiscovered oil reserves which are going to be produced in the future.
