Bioorthogonal Chemistry

by Omar Samaha

Submitted : Spring 2012

The ability to perform selective chemistries in living systems has a far reaching application in tracking biomolecules, designing new and improved therapeutic approaches, and in visualizing medically relevant biomarkers. This has grasped the attention of researchers and brought lots of interest in the development of selective bioorthogonal reactions that can proceed in live animals. Reactive polymer enables efficient in vivo bioorthogonal chemistry is covered in the research study and is the primary focus of this report. This report will explain the research study from a student’s point of view and simultaneously, the student will apply Calculus to the study. Mathematics is a universal language and is used in many aspects of life, if not all.
