Have you ever wondered why can’t some people eat dairy products? Have you ever heard of the term Lactose Intolerance? Lactase is the name of the enzyme that responsible for catalyzing the reactions of breaking down lactose - a sugar that found in milk and most of other dairy products; that’s one example of an important enzyme role in human body. There are many more other enzymes that have important roles as well, and each enzyme will have different characteristics and properties. In this project, we will go over the basics of enzymes and how they function in the human body, as well as calculating how enzymes speed up biochemical reactions that take place in our bodies by using the Michaelis and Menten equation.
