PID Control Loops

Submitted : Spring 2011

PID control loops are used in commercial/industrial air conditioning, the main purpose of these controls are to achieve machine efficiency for the specific needs required of the chiller. PID stands for Proportional, Integral, Derivative controls. Depending on the project or application of the chiller, how dependent the space to be conditioned, and the efficiency required, the specific control can be used as there are multiple control loops that can be applied to a system. For instance, a typical storage warehouse will not require the same control as a hospital would due to the fact the hospital is more critical for maintaining air quality.
