Thermodynamically, the work done on or by the gas in the cylinder is given by the integral of PdV

As a result, the net work per cycle done by one cylinder of the engine is the area inside the cycle.  Suppose this is a 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine running at 3000 RPM (open throttle).  You will be given numerical data that represents the cycle of a CI engine.  Determine the indicated horse power of the engine.    Note:  In a 4-stroke engine, each cylinder goes through an entire cycle in two revolutions.
