In this paper, we look into the problem of lighting the backyard of a house with two lights. We look into the best positioning of the lights for maximum lighting of the backyard and for clear and avoidance of shadows in some of the areas of the backyard. The positioning of the bulbs is key in ensuring maximum lighting of the place. We used Pythagoras theorem, differential calculus to come up with an equation that determines the illumination of light at a point p and that can be used to adjust the factors that affect the illumination of light for a light that is desired at a particular point. The equation from this paper is a general equation that applies to a problem of illumination of light at a certain point in between two lights.
