Building a Pathway

Submitted : Spring 2018

The great recession of 2008 affected millions of people all over the united states. Many lost their jobs, including my father. Without a job, he was forced to start a new career in landscaping, and with an old machete and a cheap lawnmower, he started his company. Pineda Home Services Inc. has been a thriving business for almost ten years, from cutting lawn to reconstructing whole backyards, my father and his workers keep their clients satisfied. Therefore, this paper will go into further detail on the mathematical problems encountered by a landscape project. The project is to remove three trees; their heights and the precise spot on where they will land must be calculated. Once removed, a stump grinder must be used to remove the stumps, the machine cannot fit through the pathway provided, therefore a ramp must be designed and constructed. Finally, the area of the land being cleaned must be calculated as shell is to be poured all over it at a depth of two inches.
