Correlation between Stress and Resting Heart Rate

Submitted : Fall 2017

Ten college students were told to monitor their resting heart rates for 3 weeks (before, during and after final exam week) using an Apple Fitbit and to record their emotional stress level on a scale of 1 (no stress) to 5 (highly stressed) each day. The data was collected, organized and graphed using Microsoft excel to derive an equation from the average graph of each student for each week. Lastly the data was analyzed, and it was found that stress from exam weeks does increase the resting heart rates of college students. Further implications suggest that if stress levels are reached to extreme measures, then the individual could later experience heart disease and long-term problems.
