Designing A Water Tank with Specific Parameters

by Steven Thorne

Submitted : Fall 2009

For this project the purpose was to design a water tank with specific specifications. This project required knowledge in both calculus and physics applications. This specific tank was intended to be used to allow some liquid (most likely water) to flow with certain specifications in mind. Using what I have previously learned from calculus and physics courses the goal was to find the orifice area, length, and the height of the water left in the tank after a period of four hours. I was able to use what I have previously learned from these courses to successfully solve these problems and apply what I have learned to a lifelike calculus and engineering problem.
