Noise Levels From an Atlas V Rocket Along Launch Azimuth

Submitted : Fall 2017

The space program located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station is a vital program in the Infrastructure of the United States. The United Launch Alliance is a major contracting organization with a variety of launch vehicles. This project utilizes a simulated launch of an Atlas V 551/552 Rocket from Launch Pad 41, provided by the Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement from 2000. The directional derivative was calculated for the noise levels in the direction of the launch azimuth and in the opposite direction. The noise levels found demonstrated a sharp decline in correlation to distance. These results show the potentially dangerous factors affecting the local wildlife.
