Fourier Series in Electrical Engineering

by Michael Brantley

Submitted : Fall 2008

Fourier series were first established by the French mathematician Joseph Fourier (1768-1830) to solve a heat equation in a metal plate. His idea was to replace the waves of the heat source with simple sine and cosine waves.

Applications of Fourier analysis are explored and discussed through several examples.
