Shock Absorbers

Shock absorbers, sometimes referred to as dampers, are an essential part of a car, regardless if its purpose is racing or getting you from point A to B. Dampers are responsible for slowing down, and eventually fully stopping the oscillations produced by the spring compressing and uncompressing, when encountering a bump. Without dampers, the car would oscillate violently causing for an unpleasant ride, and reducing performance stats.

In this project, an old car with no dampers will be used to test the rate at which the car oscillates. This information is useful to determine the specifications of a perfect damper that should be installed into this car. With the information already gathered, engineers, can design a damper to respond perfectly either in daily driving, or fully out racing.
