Formula Creation for Finding the Mass in a Vibration Isolation System

by Adam Szydlowski

Submitted : Fall 2014

The purpose of this project is to develop a single formula to determine volume and weight of a vibration isolation system mass of various dimensions using techniques of Integral Calculus such as the definition of volume and volumes of cylindrical shells. To derive a formula the shape of the mass was necessary to understand and from there the integral of the volume could be solved. After integrating it is necessary to subtract the volume of the original block from the half spherical cavity to find the precise volume of the mass. Additionally, it is necessary to know the density of the material of which the mass is made. Finally, by solving for the mass from the density equation the mass would be derived.
