Hexokinase Volume to Surface Area Ratio Change during Phosphorylation of β-Glucose

by Adam Borne

Submitted : Fall 2014

Models can be used in order to understand enzymatic activity and illustrate the concepts surrounding cell function. Hexokinase is an enzyme that is used in Glycolysis to attach a phosphate group to Glucose. The objective of this project was to produce a model of Hexokinase using fundamental calculus in order to understand changes in volume to surface area ratios. A model was generated to effectively demonstrate no significant change in the ratio of the volume to surface area.
