Fuel Economy of a Hummer H2 at Highway Speeds

by Eric Engelberger

Submitted : Fall 2013

The purpose of this project was to determine the effects that aerodynamics have on a vehicle pertaining to fuel consumption with respect to speed. Aerodynamic drag is the most dominant force acting against a vehicle when driving at higher speeds. Using a Hummer H2 we were able to calculate the rate of change in fuel consumption using drag force (air resistance) as a function of velocity.
