Finding parameters for General Logistic Growth equation in Mammalian Cells

by Oscar Merino

Submitted : Spring 2013

Given an initial General Logistic Growth function describing cell growth, we derived a system of 3 equations with three parameters a, b, and c. These equations describe exponential growth of a specific mammalian cell line, with its parameters being unique for every cell line and experimental conditions. We used a computer program (Wolfram Mathematica 7.0) to find the best fit for the data and the appropriate values of the parameters for this particular cell line. Knowing this equation allows for better planning for experiments and understanding of the growth patterns of the cell line.
