America Substation Load Evaluation

by Zachary Zambito

Submitted : Spring 2013

The goal of this project is to determine the energy usage, peak load, and maximum ramp rate using data from four power transformers for the America substation under control of the Orlando Utilities Commission. Using data collected on August 3, 2012 for the MVA levels of the substation, we were able to calculate the desired values utilizing polynomial regression and a variety of differentiation and integration techniques. The resulting data shows that the overall energy usage for the substation during the given date was 1243.79 MVA-hr; the energy usage reached a peak of 63.9904 MVA; and the maximum ramp rate reached was 2.91449 MVA/h.
