Maximum Sustainable Yield of White-Tailed Deer Populations in Georgia

by Tyler Quinzi

Submitted : Fall 2012

In this paper I calculated an equation that should allow for the determination of the white-tailed deer population in Georgia at any given time as well as the maximum sustainable yield for that year. In order to arrive at these figures I obtained relevant data and applied them to the logistics equation.

The results that I found suggest that there should be no increase of the bag limits of white-tailed deer across the state of Georgia. State regulations as they stand already sufficiently curb the growth of the white-tailed deer population.
