The Moon's phases and the Menses of Earth

Submitted : Fall 2012

The project was a study based on a function, generated from excel after entering raw data points to initially generate a scatter plot. This was done in an effort to try to identify an similar pattern between moon fullness and the amount of reported menses (M) start dates of women in the study. The scatter plot generated in excel yielded a line of best fit for the data points entered. This trend was reflected with the corresponding full moon dates for the overlay of the several months in the observed study. In order to procure accurate results from the perceived trend line a set of areas was tested underneath the curve with the average values. The experiment showed a much larger set of average values in the regions of the full moons, by over double, to indicate just how large of a degree full moons actually influenced menstrual cycles.
