Optimum Location of a Power Plant

by Maxwell Eickholt

Submitted : Fall 2012

In this project, a power plant is being built to supply five transformer stations with power. A transmission line is run straight from each transformer station to the power plant. Costs of running the transmission lines are proportional to the total length of the transmission line. Using the distance formula and partial derivatives these distances can all be minimized, and the optimal location is found.
