Physical Description of the Eruption of Mount Tambora

by Kaitlin Bellerose

Submitted : Spring 2012

Using the specified data for the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora, we were able to determine the velocities and positions of theoretical objects that were ejected from the explosion. Furthermore, we established the volume of a perfect cone that represented the blown-off top of the volcano and used relationships gleaned from preceding problems to calculate the force needed to move the cone clear of the newly-formed aperture.
