Reaction Forces on a Beam with a Distributed Load

by Anthony Morales

Submitted : Spring 2012

To find the reaction forces of FA and FB in part (a), I found the equation of the function w(x). After finding the equation, I used integral calculus to find the total force and the force at FB; then subtracted the total force by FB to get FA. Then, I used excel to calculate the reaction forces at FA and FB, and compared my results from excel with my results from integration. For part (b), I also used excel to calculate the reaction forces at FA and FB. The end results were as expected based on the step size used.
