Buoy

Submitted : Spring 2009

The calculus based engineering project involves a goal of determining the tension on a line connecting a buoy to the ocean floor. In order to achieve this goal, one needs to calculate the volume of the buoy and determine the buoyancy force. Thereafter, one must calculate the total weight in order to find the tension in the line anchoring the buoy to the ocean floor The tension is found by subtracting the total weight by the buoyancy force.
