Vertical Trajectory Calculation of a Model Rocket

by Patrick Smith

Submitted : Spring 2011

In this project, integration used to approximate the precise trajectory of a model rocket launched vertically, using the estes C-6 engine specifications. Using calculus tools the velocity and height of a rocket is calculated from launch to engine cutoff.  Additional vertical distance (height) of the rocket through coasting is obtained through subsequent calculations. By breaking the rockets flight into the powered phase and a coasting phase, things are made less complicated, and the most useful key data points can be easily identified.
