Genetic Sequencing

by Samuel Metzen

Submitted : Fall 2010

This project analyzes and compares the methods for the mathematical analysis of genetic sequences. A similar genetic sequence was analyzed for a variety of hormone shared by chimpanzees and humans. All of the mathematics are based off the Smith-Waterman algorithm, and the modern programs that utilize it for obtaining data on genetic sequences. The data gained will then be presented in a manner to show how to use the statistical similarities in genetic sequences in comparison to their correlation in laboratory experimentation.
