The Study of Breast Carcinoma in Mice

by Tiana Courchaine

Submitted : Spring 2010

After injecting carcinoma into the mammary glands of a population of lab mice, the equation for the rate of growth is calculated and used to predict how large the cancerous tumors will be within a week. At day seven, the mice are separated into two groups: Treated Mice & Untreated Mice. The treated mice receive a dose of an anti-cancer drug that reverses the characteristics of the cancer. One then finds the rate of shrinkage.
