Astronomy: Space Shuttle Landing

by Kiara Monroe

Submitted : Spring 2010

The project that I completed was Astronomy: Space Shuttle Landing, which depicted a space shuttle in various phases (landing, hovering, taking-off, etc.) on a planet. Using several different calculations from physics to find force, velocity, acceleration, time, and gravity, I was able to precisely answer the problems stated. Also by means of the equations of motion I was capable to attain the answers to a few of the problems. Completing this project I have gained a new outlook on the use of physics equations to calculate different phases of a shuttle on a planet, only being given the radius and mass of the planet and the mass of the shuttle.
