Estimation of Anti-Corrosive Coating for the Eiffel Tower

by Mohamed Bienein

Submitted : Spring 2019

Using calculus, it was estimated the superficial area of the Eiffel Tower -approximately 498,704 ft2- and consequently, the number of gallons of anti-corrosive coating required for maintenance -2,649 gal. Comparing the result with a value reported in press -12,000 gal ("Eiffel Tower's Original", 2018)- is around 4.5 times smaller due the complexity of the monument, where the iron girders are exposed to the atmosphere in a higher rate than the proposed model of estimation.
