Bee Population in the United States

by Jacob Davis

Submitted : Spring 2017

The analysis of bee population in the United States has shown several different trends. The data was gathered from the World Animal Health Information Database using the population from 2005-2016. The data was then placed into a Microsoft excel sheet and transformed into a graph and 2 trend lines were discovered one exponential and the other a polynomial to the third degree shown in Graph 1 and Graph 2. These trend lines were examined and if possible their zeroes were found, this was used to determine which trend line most closely represents what will happen in the future. It was found that there is a high possibility that the polynomial is the closest to what will happen in the future meaning a possibility of the bee population crashing leading to local extinction of bees in the USA.
