Cluttered Desk

Submitted : Fall 2016

For this project, the task was to find the area of a desk to see what amount of space is available to put down an entertainment system including music recording instruments.  The measurements of the table were calculated and then graphed. The line y=76.2 came out of the graph. The next thing to do was to convert it into a polar equation, which was r=rad((76.2^2)/1-Cos(theta)^2).  The area was found by computing the integral of ½*r^2, and bounded by 0 to 182.88. This gave us an exact area and that is the area that is available on the desk.
