Deflection of Beams

by Kimberly Searles

Submitted : Spring 2016

When engineers are designing a structure they have to remember that there will never be a perfect material that is both economically smart and does not bend when suspended. To determine the amount of bend, Engineers use the formulas for the deflection of beams. There are strict limitations set on the amount of deflection in beams so that they are safe. This project goes over a specific simple problem with a deflection to find the maximum slope and maximum deflection of a given beam with a distributed load on it. This is done using equations for moments as well as the deflection equations.
