Calculation of VAPOL Phosphoric Acid’s Open Region

VAPOL Phosphoric Acid, a chiral catalyst contains multiple benzene rings. When presented this chiral catalyst, there is a noticeable gap in between these carbon rings. By using Riemann sums, and the disk/washer equation the area of this pocket can be discovered. These calculations are performed with knowledge of Calculus I, II and geometry. By calculating the area of the molecule and subtracting it from the area between the phosphorous and oxygen this open region’s area can be found.
